Out-Turn Your Target

2016/7/19 16:56:28

When it comes to chipping and pitching, I see a lot of people using only the hands and arms to hit the shot. To become very good at these shots, you must use the pivot of the body so you can take the hands and arms out of the hit. When hitting chips and pitch shots, have the buttons on your shirt out-turn your target. Try to get the sensation that the energy of the strike is coming from the rotation of your pivot and pivot speed.

The differences in the two sets of photos are pretty drastic. In the first set, the arms and hands are way too active, and there's zero to little pivot of the body.

In the second set of photos, the body has fully turned and I've hit the shot with no hands. When chipping or pitching, try to get the buttons on your shirt to out-turn your target.
