The Us Open At Pebble Beach Looks Set To Be A Battle Between Old And New

2016/7/20 16:10:53

The US Open at the picturesque Pebble Beach is soon to get underway and with early indications of great weather and a fast rolling playing surface it looks as though there’s no dangers of the poor weather at last year’s tournament as Bethpage which saw players sacrificing control in favour of hitting the ball as far as they could to compensate for the poor rolling and speed-sucking grass.

So with sunny skies and ideal playing surfaces this year’s tournament and the big question on everyone’s lips is whether three time winner at Pebble Beach Tiger Woods will be able to continue his return to his former glory and win this year. Tiger will be returning to Pebble Beach with a number of other big names on the golfing circuit as well as plenty of new and younger golfers hungry to win the coveted honour of being the US Open champion 2010.

Rory Mcilroy the 21 year old from Northern Ireland has recently made the brave statement that Tiger Woods’ opposition is no longer in awe of his skills which could come back to haunt him if Tiger returns to the form that won him the US Open in 2008, but the British youngster has had a number of strong performances in recent tournaments and many critics and pundits say that Rory’s style of play is perfectly suited to Pebble Beach. Rory has a great approach to the green with long, high and accurate shots that have landed on target it will no doubt help with the notoriously firm greens at Pebble Beach.

Other favourites for the tournament include fellow British golfer Padraig Harrington hoping to add another Open title to his record as well as the two British Open titles he has won in recent years. Other familiar faces such as Ernie Els and Jim Furyk are also in the mix as well as a number of US young golfers looking to make a name for themselves.

Some of the older players in the tournament are also in there ready to raise a few eyebrows as Tom Watson and Greg Norman have both put in tremendous performances, last year especially for Watson who was a part of the nail biting close to the British Open last year.

There are plenty of big name players taking to the wonderful links course and with great conditions predicted we’re sure to get some of the best golf on show and maybe even learn a few tricks ourselves.
