2016/7/27 16:47:09

Choosing the right tactical rifle scope can be a daunting task. While buying shooting tactical riflescopes you have to keep in mind that the scope suits your needs and also mounts perfectly on the tactical rifle. If you browse through different websites and catalogs you will find wide array of PST precision scopes available.  Many brands are available in the market. In wide variety of products, how can you settle down with the right device that can be correctly mounted over your precision rifle? You should keep certain aspects in mind while choosing precision shooting tactical scopes. Let us discuss those issues.

What Questions should you Ask Yourself?

Before buying the riflescope you should ask yourself couple of questions:

1.       Are you going to use it for professional use (military or law enforcement or recreational purposes such as long range hunting, sniper type matches, or anything like that)?

2.       What is the average distance you want to shoot? Do you really need it for shooting?

3.       Which light condition will you generally use the device for shooting (daylight, moonlight, dawn, dusk, etc.)?

4.       Which calibre rifle are you using? What is the length of your rifle? How much does it weigh?

5.       Can the rifle scope be used along with a night vision device?

6.       What is your budget for the PST (Precision Shooting Tactical) scope?

If you answer these questions you will know whether you want to buy an affordable shooting tactical scope or a costly one from leading optical brands.

3 Most Important Features to Check while buying Shooting Tactical Riflescopes

You can choose a PST Shooting tactical scope by checking these features:

1.       Magnification

With 4X, 6X or 10X magnification a shooter can shoot a target at a distance of 500 yards, 700 yards and 1000 yards respectively. However, if you want to hit a hidden target you may require more magnification. In case of more than 10X magnification, the scope will be heavier and may create problem in easy and effective shooting. Shooters generally prefer riflescopes with 2.5-10X magnification for long range shooting and 2.5-4X for close range shooting. Some also like to have 6-24X scopes, but it should be kept in mind that more magnification means smaller exit pupil and less FOV. Ambient lighting conditions should also be considered while checking magnification feature.

2.       Size of Objective Lens

Choice of the proper objective lens is very important. Always keep in mind that larger lense have greater possibility of disclosing your location to the target because they reflect more light. 56mm objective lenses are found to be enough for shooting even under moonlight. Larger scopes are easier to knock about. In fact, they are bulkier as well as heavier.

3.       Parallax Adjustment

Currently, most popular parallax adjustments have side focus knobs. However, you should keep in consideration that AO or adjustable objectives are more precise, on one hand, and more robust, on the other. Though AOs have better designs, they are fading away fast. You may try out the European-style fast focus eyepiece as it comes with cool features.
