Dont Miss Sipadan Diving

2016/7/26 10:18:55

Sipadan Island is located on the east coast of Malaysian Borneo and is the center of the richest marine habitats in the world. The island of Sipadan is covered with rain forests. So besides enjoying the underwater world, one can also enjoy the natural beauty on land.

For a long time, Sipadan was the subject of a territorial dispute between Indonesia and Malaysia. It officially became a part of Malaysia in 2002. Sipadan is a paradise on earth which attracts tourists from all around the world.

Anyone who wants to dive in Sipadan is welcome. You can find many scuba diving packages created just for it. You can also choose among many dive sites around the island, and it is perfect for deep dives. It is important to know that it is impossible to stay on Sipadan itself. Tourists must stay in Mabul or Semporna and take a boat to Sipadan when they want to go there.

Sipadan is protected. Only 120 divers are allowed to dive there daily. The island is a center of untouched nature - there are no restaurants or resorts there and whoever wants to go and dive there must bring their own food, water and equipment.

Since the major problem of today's world is pollution, it is pretty amazing and encouraging that one place like this actually exists. You can dive in Sipadan anytime. The weather is always ideal for diving. The only problem might be the change of visibility. When it comes to dive sites, one of the most popular sites is the Turtle Cavern. To dive there, you need to have a certificate in cave diving. You can find skeletons of turtles there. You can also try a night dive at Sipadan South Point. At the Sipadan Jetty, a lot of different species of fish can be found like mackerels, barracudas, and even leopard sharks. At Sipadan Barracuda Point, as its name depicts, there are lot of barracudas. Unfortunately, many corals are broken since a lot of people dive there daily. For those who are not good in diving, there is always snorkeling, a perfect way to find out at least something about underwater life.

Diving in Sipadan can be an unforgettable experience. It also makes you appreciate nature more than ever. If you want to get prepared, you have to visit the dive shops and get all the equipment needed. It is forbidden to break corals or touch sea creatures and plants under water. The beautiful nature in Sipadan is still untouched and must remain that way so that all can continue to enjoy all that it has to offer.
