4 Tips for Novice Scuba Divers to Understand the Etiquettes

2016/7/26 11:04:21

It doesn't matter what kind of a hobby a person may have or what sort of extracurricular activities he may be participating in his free time. All kinds of extracurricular activities have their own set of certain rules as well as regulations, which should be followed so a good relation is maintained among the people who are participating in it. There are few rules that one must practice in order to understand and respect the fundamental etiquettes, which will keep him safe and others comfortable around him. These are to be learnt before putting on the dive wetsuits and getting onto the boat. Many of these are unspoken rules that are directly related to the behavior of a person. Hence, if someone is contemplating and going on a scuba diving expedition, he must follow the 4 tips that will sharpen his diving etiquettes completely.

4 Important Etiquette Tips for Scuba Divers

1. No Complaining

This is the very first rule of this water sport that one must attempt and avoid any sort of complaining. It not only harasses other divers, but it also bothers the instructor. One must comprehend that this is one of the pretty difficult sports that can jeopardize a participant's life and limbs; if not prepared and gone through carefully with the instructions. There may be less room in the boat, wetsuit may be cold and damp, prescription drive masks may be a bit uncomfortable, water could be very cold, weather may not be alright, but all of that is part and parcel of this sport.

2. Wetsuit Must Be Clean

Many people have a habit of urinating in their swimwear as soon as they get into the water. Hence, one must not urinate in his wetsuit to keep his health and dignity intact. These wetsuits are usually meant to keep the body warm and so they are made of thick material, which also preserve the odor of urine. This makes it smell for a long time. Thus, it is wise to wash it every once in a while and never to urinate in it, while in the water.

3. Be A Gentleman Or A Lady

One could easily get very excited, while he or she is under water, since it is all an exhilarating experience that can't be explained, but only felt. In such a situation one must be extremely courteous to other divers and respect their private space. One must never bump into any of his dive-mates who are also enjoying the underwater scenery as much as him. Dive computers are meant to keep one under check, but not to flicker with every now and then.

4. Respecting The Instructor Is Paramount

The instructor has taken money to teach for sure, but he certainly isn't the servant of the novice diver. There job is not just to teach how to dive, but also to make sure that the divers have fun and they return to the port or beach safely.
