Dive Sites

2016/7/26 11:04:32

There are tens of thousands of dive sites scattered across the world, there really is as much to see under the water as there is above. More in fact, the ocean floor is full of caves, ravines, mountains, corals and many more geographical features. In addition, it is home to thousands of varieties of plants, animals and fish. Almost unbelievably, there is even such a thing as aquatic insects. The world's oceans are teeming with life, all of it interesting and beautiful in its own way.

On top of that, there are manmade objects to see. Admittedly, mostly in the form of shipwrecks, but there are hundreds of them, some are modern and date back only decades, but many are hundreds of years old. They are perhaps the most interesting sites to visit. There is nothing, on land, that really compares.

Wreck Dive Sites

Whilst there are thousands of wrecks on the seabed, not all wreck dive sites can be visited. Many of them are extremely deep, so are off limits to all but the most experienced and well-equipped divers. Some are too dangerous to visit, or are located in restricted areas. Still others are too polluted to visit, or visiting them is banned by the authorities.

However, there are hundreds located across the world that are accessible. Many of them can be dived, with supervision, by relatively inexperienced divers. The nice thing is that a lot of them are in warm clear waters, which means you can see a lot. Most wrecks are teaming with marine life, so even if wrecks do interest you, as such, you can still enjoy diving them.

Finding the Best Dive Sites

Working out which ones to visit can be difficult without good access to information. There is still not much organised information about dive sites available. However, things are improving and the internet is helping. Over the past decade, the diving community has welcomed many new divers and it is a growing sport. This has led to a few good diving websites being put together that allow divers to share information about the dive sites they have visited with others. These are the best way to find good dive sites to visit.
