A console dive computer is attached to all the equipments via a hose. The console dive computers usually come with a pressure guage. There are options for a dive computer to be mounted on your hose or clip on to your BC. You can choose it according to your comfort and the range that you are comfortable with.

The next is wrist dive computer which is very popular nowadays. This type of computer look like a large watch and can be worn on the wrist. These will tell you what you need to know. Some wrist dive computers are also with a console. Sometimes the readouts may be a little bit small so make sure that it is easy to read under water.

Now one of the type is air integrated dive computers. These are becoming more common place. An integrated computer measures the tank pressure and calculates how much more time you have left at the current rate of air consumption. An integrated computer replaces the need for a submercible pressure guage.

The next one is nitrox dive computer which is becoming more and more common. These computers are nitrox compatible. If you are thinking of diving with nitrox in future, it probabaly worths to have nitrox dive computers.

A hoseless dive computer consists of a reciever and a transmitter. The transmitter is attached to the high pressure port of the regulator and then sends your information to the reciever without any wire. The reciever looks the same as the normal dive computers.

You can choose anyone from the above according to your need. If you are planning for doing technical or deep diving, then it will be better for you to have wrist dive computers. If you are not planning for becoming diving professional then a console mounting computer is a better choice for you. So it totally depends on you what type of dive computer you want to buy.
