Scuba Diving Equipment- Things That A Diver Must Have

There are a number of recreational activities and sports that are performed under water. Scuba diving is one such sports that allows us to dive deep into the depths of water. The thrill of being under water and face to face with the marine life is what makes this sport extremely exciting and popular. The mysterious life under water has always fascinated us since ages. We have a desire to explore what goes on under the depths of blue depths of seas and oceans. The unexplored territory needs to be explored and in order to do so, one should have proper scuba diving equipment.

There are a number of components that are vital for a scuba diver. First of all, the diver should have a proper wet suit. The wet suit provides total coverage to the body of the diver and acts as an insulator. It does not allow the body of the diver to come in contact with the water. Along with this, the diving mask forms an extremely important component as well. It covers the eyes, nose and mouth of the diver when he is under water. It prevents the water from entering these particular organs thereby making it possible for the diver to see clearly under water and breathe as well.

The diving mask is connected through a pipe to an oxygen tank which the diver carries on his back. The oxygen tank has a measuring device attached to it which displays the volume of oxygen remaining in the tank. It decreases as the diver consumes it when under water. Another major component of the scuba diving equipment is the regulator. The regulator is used to control the flow and pressure of the air as it is supplied to the diver as he goes deeper into the sea. There are different types of regulators which are used when diving into different depths. The pressure has to be different for different levels of water depth.

In some cases, when the diver dives deeper than 30 feet into the water body, fins come into play. Fins allow the divers to thrust with force when deep in water. Another one is the buoyancy compensator which looks like a vest. The diver needs to wear it as it eases the effort that the diver uses when he wishes to swim back to the surface. Apart from these, there are a number of measuring devices and tools which perform several measurements and recordings. The measuring gauge measures the depth of the water and the decompression readings. Along with having proper scuba diving equipment, it is mandatory for the diver to go through the scuba diving training programme which is conducted for the divers prior to the actual diving activity.
