Scuba Diving - great for the whole family!

Grand Turk Island is part of Turks and Caicos and offers fantastic scuba diving in the Caribbean for divers of all ages and levels.
Caribbean scuba diving offers a great opportunity for families to have fun and take part in underwater activities together.

The Bohio Resort on Grand Turk Island offers PADI Open Water Diver Certification to its guests and the islands are surrounded by one of the most extensive coral ecosystems in the world. Divers can explore the marine park and reefs which are situated just 500 yards from the island's shores so there is no need for lengthy boat trips to reach the diving sites.

John Needham, a marina owner, explained: "As a divorced parent, I don't have as much day-to-day interaction with my family. That makes a trip like this all the more special."

Another guest staying at the intimate 16-room Bohio Resort, Catherine Brigham, said: "This is the first family vacation we've had in eight years. This is so special. I'm grateful this is something that we can share from now on."

Grand Turk Island is the largest of the Turks and Caicos Islands and it reported to be the place where explorer Christopher Columbus made his first landfall on his initial voyage to the New World in 1492.

The island oozes historical points and rustic charm with Cockburn Town offering historical buildings, colonial ruins and the Turks and Caicos National Museum.

Tourists can snorkel or scuba dive around the area's protected coral reef and magnificent diving sites, or stand on the white sand shores and watch humpback whales emerge from the surface of the sparkling Caribbean waters.

Divers and snorkelers are treated to sightings of spotted eagle rays, manta rays, turtles, dolphins and an abundance of tropical flora and fauna through the clear shallow waters.
