New York Skydiving

New York skydiving can't help but be rewarding, with its range of vistas. These include Niagara Falls, the Finger Lakes, Manhattan, the Atlantic coastline, and the rugged north country. All New York skydiving drop zones are USPA members. Several are also private clubs. All require that you be 18 years old and 220 pounds or less. All have been operating for a great many years and offer staff with extensive skydiving experience and certifications.

To the north, New York skydiving drop zones include the Adirondacks and North Country, with a drop zone in Plattsburgh established 1971 and another in Duanesburg established in 1972. To the west is a facility just 15 miles from Niagara Falls that was established in 1960. Another in the Finger Lakes lies about 25 miles northwest of Ithaca and offers only tandem lessons.

Toward the center of the state, New York skydiving is offered at the Mohawk Valley. This is the only drop zone in the state to offer all three training methods. These are tandem, static line and accelerated freefall. But what happens if you aren't comfortable with any of these facilities? You can always think about facilities in the next state over. Many people overlook this important option.

You don't have to skydive at the place nearest to you. You can choose the school that best suits your needs--the one that offers the type of jump you want, with instructors you can trust. Check out the bios of the instructors online--the best schools will put this information out there for you to view. If the schools nearest you don't measure up, you shouldn't be afraid to venture further afield.
