Throwing faster

Question
Hey,
My son is currently playing in a baseball league. He is 9 years old and pitches for his team. He has great control and accuracy, i was wondering if you know what is the average velocity for his age and if there are any conditioning drills or workouts to help him increase his velocity. He pitches from the windup is that good or not..? your advice is greatly appreciated thanks in advance.

Answer
Heh, how many times am I gonna answer this one? I'm just kidding, your questions are greatly appreciated.

There's no really a set velocity chart out there anywhere. The best answer I can really give you is be glad that your son has control and accuracy because that can get him very far in baseball alone.

The only thing to really do to increase velocity is work it. Work your arm and make it stronger. Also check mechanics because that's a quick way to add 3+ MPH.

I'd say windup is good unless he's struggling with accuracy. Then you can put him in the stretch where less things can go wrong and he'll throw more strikes.
