accuracy

Question
My name is Corey. I am 13 and I am a left-handed pitcher for my middle school baseball team. I throw in the mid 70s and I have alot of movement on my fastball. But my problem is accuracy. I usually walk one batter an inning. Because im wild I throw alot of pitches an inning so that means I dont last very long. But when I do throw strikes no one can get a hit off me. Is there anything I can do to help me become more accurate? Ill try anything.

Answer
Corey-
There are two things that (I feel) lead to pitchers walking one or more batters an inning.
The first is physical. Are your mechanics strong? Does your head move a lot while you're delivering the pitch? Pitchers need simple and personal mechanics. Simple being that they are easily repeated. Personal means that YOU know how fix something when its a little off. Spend time perfecting your delivery without throwing a baseball. Get in front of a mirror and SEE exactly what's going on. Video taping yourself also works very well.
The Second point is mental. What's your approach to getting hitters out? Spend some time writing down your ideas about how you get people out. If you're trying to have the hitters swing and miss EVERY pitch then, its called "picking". Coaches hate this.
I use this philosophy when I pitch.
*Get ahead of every batter with a 1st pitch strike (doesn't have to be a Fastball)
*Get the hitter out in 4 pitches or less.
*HAVE FUN and be myself.
I would call this approach "pitching TO contact". Its worked so far and I don't see how it can't be used by pitchers at any level.
Good Luck and let me know how it goes.
