Baseball Pitching Rules: Glove Restrictions for Young Players

Question
I'm going to be pitching for a spring rec league and a travel baseball team. I'm 14 years old and don't know a lot of the rules strictly for pitching. I heard somewhere that pitchers can't wear a certain color glove and cannot wear batting gloves under their fielding glove. Are these 2 true or false?

Thanks, Ray

Answer
Hi Ray:

Thanks for your question.  You are correct about there being certain restrictions on the gloves pitchers can wear.  The restrictions are designed to prevent the pitcher from using a glove that would district or fool the batter.

Pitchers cannot wear white or grey gloves, and their gloves must be one colour only.

Also, no, you cannot wear a batting glove underneath the fielding glove.

Additionally, you cannot attach any "foreign material" to the glove, so hiding the thumbtack in the palm of the glove and dangling your lucky keychain off the back are both out of the question.

I hope this answers your question; good luck with your pitching, have a great season!

Cheers,
Gareth
