Metal Cleats in Little League: Are They Allowed?

Is it bad or dangerous to wear metal cleats or is it ok to wear for the juniors little league?

Little League Baseball Rules state that "shoes with metal spikes or cleats are not permitted" in the Major Baseball division and below.  However, players in Junior Baseball and above may wear metal cleats or spikes.  Metal cleats or spikes are not permitted at any level of softball.

As for the safety, make sure that your players understand the risk they run when playing with metal cleats.  Make sure that they know how to slide and position themselves in the field to where they won't hurt themselves or others.
