force vs. tagging for 3rd out and run counting

Question
bases are loaded and 2 out.  A ground ball is hit to second base and fielded.  Instead of thowing to a base for force, the second baseman walks to the basepath to tag the runner.  Before the tag however the runner from 3rd crosses the plate.  Does the run count?  I used the instance where there is only 1 out and runners on first and 3rd.  A ground ball is hit in which the infield tries to turn the double play.  Out at second but the throw pulls the firstbaseman off the bag and tags the runner as he goes by.  Runner from third has already scored.  The run counts in this instance, as I have seen in Major league play.  Does the first instance run count?

Answer
Hi Tony,

I don't think the run counts.  The fielded ball and tag are part of the same play (forced out).  The run would not count.

The other example you gave is complex.  I think it has something to do with two distinct plays and a run in between the two.

I always tell my players to touch the base in a force and tag only when there is no other option.  You never know what can happen in a tag (run-down).
