I was reading an article about Graig Nettles' son who is a 34 year old in minor league baseball, and the comment was made that he didn't make the majors because he "couldn't square the ball up" often enough. I know it has something to do with his swing, but can you explain more precisely what that means?

Sorry for the delay in answering your question but it simply means that he didn't make enough consistent hard contact. You can have a low batting  batting average but you making good consistent hard contact, you maybe hitting alot of balls right at people.
