Who get credit for the win?

Question
Brian, a pitcher leaves the game after completion of the top of the 7th, leading 2-1.  His team scores 8 in the top of the 9th, and now leads 10-1.  His reliever gives up a run in the bottom of the 9th, and the game ends 10-2.  Who gets credit for the win?  What if the game had ended 10-3?  Who would get credit for the win?  Thank you.

Answer
Sidd,

In both cases, the starting pitcher gets the win.  The rule reads like this "If the starting pitcher leaves the game and his team has a lead that they never relinquish, he is awarded the win."  So even if the final score was 16-14, as long as his team always had the lead, he would still get the win.

Hope this helps!

Brian
