Left-Handed Pitching Mechanics: Should He Change His Arm Slot?
Question
My grandson is a left handed pitcher who throws a 3/4 side arm that is accurate and fast. His latest coach wants to change the side arm and says side arm is never good. I am not sure because it just comes so natural to my grandson. What do you think?
Answer
Lonny,
The 3/4 arm slot is not side arm as long as the elbow is at the level of his shoulder. I agree with keeping things natural and not turning all pitchers into the same mold. As long as your grandson has a good position of his elbow and can stay on top of the baseball, I wouldn't change a thing.
Good Luck,
