Bat rules

I have a son going in to 8th grade. I live in Illinois and can not find out if highschool rules for bat length to weight ratio extend to junior high. I need to buy him a new bat for the season that starts at the 1st of August.  I would like for him to be able to use the -5 and not have to go to the heavier -3 but I dont want to spend the money on a bat and have someone tell him that it is not legal to use.  Can you please help me find out what the rules are in Illinois for junior high baseball.

The National Federation of High Schools are the governing rules for all 50 states....Please check them out at www.NFHS.org.  Everywhere that I am aware of from middle school through college demands a -3 bat unless it is wood, then there are no limits.
