Little League Baseball: Run Scoring with Force Outs - Explained

Question
Scenario: Little league - bases loaded, 2 outs.  Ball is his to short stop, short stop chooses to try to tag the runner advancing from 2B to 3B, runner dodges initial tag attempt however then gets tagged out (out 3).  The runner who was on 3B crosses home before the tag.  Does the run count?  Is this still a "force out" play even though the out did not occur on the base that the runner was advancing to?  Thanks

Answer
Greg,

It depends on if the runner reached third base safely.  If the runner was tagged out prior to reaching third base, the run does not count as it is a force play (runner forced to advance to third).  If the runner had reached third safely and then made an attempt to run home and got tagged out, then he advanced at his own risk, the run would score.

I hope this has helped.
