contact at home plate

Question
today my 12 year old son was running home and the other teams catcher was in front of the plate blocking it he ran into the catcher, he was kicked out of the game and also the next game. Is that an appropriate action in accordance with LITTLE LEAGUE RULES?

Answer
Juanita,

A player must slide or attempt to avoid contact with a fielder who is in possession of the ball and blocking the basepath.  Should the umpire have felt that your son meant to violate this rule, he could be ejected.  Little League Baseball rule 4.07 states that any manager, coach, or player ejected may not be present on the field or in the stands at the next physically played game.

I hope this has helped.  Should you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
