Understanding Softball Alternate Positions for Middle Schoolers

my daughter has been given the postision of alternate on her middle school
team. she altready plays for lirttle league softball but they have never used
that term what exactly is it? Im thinking she will only be used as a substitute
player is that correct?

Honestly, I have never heard of an alternate.  In our area, you either make a school team or you don't.  You might want to talk to the coach or your school's Athletic Director for clarification of what your daughter's role on the team is.
