Pitcher Chasinging Batter

Question
Our batter was rounding the bases after hitting a home run when the pitcher joined him, yelling at him the whole way.  No contact was made but should there have been an ejection?  Our league is amateur but the pitcher is a former major league player.

Answer
By rule, unless there is physical contact, there would not be an automatic ejection.  This in turn leaves it up to the umpire as to whether or not the verbal assault warrants an ejection.  Apparently, the umpire did not feel that the comments went far enough over the line.  I hope this answers your question.
