Answer
To answer the question - Yes, a weight hole in the side would help give you a little more snap at the back end, but a urethane ball will still carry better than a plastic ball.
Two other things to try:
If you are not using three finger holes, check with your pro shop to see if they can drill an additional finger hole for your first finger. On your plastic ball this should give you more lift/revs to get more of a hooking action. I used to bowl with a person that had polio as a child and didn't have much hand strength. He had to have 4 finger holes drilled so that he could hold the ball without dropping it.
Try to get more ball speed with your reactive urethane ball.  Rather than rely on arm strength to create more ball speed use a higher backswing or add 1 or 2 steps to your approach. By bringing the ball back higher on the backswing gravity will give you more ball speed on the downswing. Now reach more toward your mark on the release to keep from giving you more lift when you release the ball (since it has more speed and momentum). If you have a 4 step approach take an additional step back (if you still have room on the approach) and take 5 steps instead of 4. This should give you a little more momentum to get more ball speed. This is much easier to say than to do since you will have to start with the other foot than you normally use.
If the reactive ball is still rolling out ask your pro shop to polish the ball to get more length before it starts to hook.
Have fun trying these techniques. They will feel really strange if you are not used to changing things in your approach and delivery so they will take a lot of repetition to get to the point that you don't have to "think" about changing anything and it feels "normal".
