SLIDE POSITION OF RT FOOT

Question
I am LT Handed.  204 avg.  Bowling 5 yrs.  I have been noticing that when I slide, I turn my RT foot to the LT.  I have a very short slide.  Should ( can I ) correct this or leave it as is.  I use a 5 step approach.  Ball speed approx. 14 mph.  Hook the ball from the 11 board to the 4 board.  Oil pattern 10 to 10 on Brunswick ( syn ) lanes.  Storm Tropical Heat.

Answer
Stan,
Usually, excess energy/momentum shows up in a bowling delivery as torque in the slide when the momentum of a shot isn't dissipated ideally. Some players rise or pop up as they deliver the ball, some fall off the shot as they lose balance while still others torque and twist to expel the energy that should be utilized in the slide and delivery. Any of these other things happening?

My first thought would be your approach is too short, or your ability to slide properly is being impeded by your style, shoes or approach conditions.

Secondly, your ball speed suggests instead of building momentum to the point of delivery you might be starting quickly then stopping/slowing yourself as you make your delivery.

Thirdly, ball fit and too much grip pressure might cause tension in your arm and the torque at the point of delivery might be from pulling the ball/late delivery from hanging on too long.

How much of the approach do you use? How tall are you? Do you take short quick steps? Long strides? How close to your ankle do you deliver the ball? Help me get a sense of your approach, can you describe the point you start at, board and orientation to the dots/ball lift/anything, (for example: your right slide foot starts at big dot-20 board, 10 inches behind the middle set of dots on the approach, you walk fairly straight drifting right to 23 board as you slide)? I'll need more detail to better understand what may be happening. Can you provide a video?

Lastly, if I understand your description here, you roll the ball targeting 11 swinging the ball out to 4 board, then it hooks back to the 1-2 pocket? Is this correct? How close to the foul line do you finish? Please provide more information, thanks.
