Music during sanctioned league play

Question
Hi-

We had this issue at another bowling center and quit bowling there because of it--LOUD music being played during our sanctioned league play. Now they're doing it at the new place we've recently been moved to due to AMF shutting down the other center we had moved to....is there any ABC rule denying a center to play loud music during sanctioned league play?? (please say YES!!) I want to bowl and have conversation with other bowlers....not be distracted and overcome by obnoxious loud music.

Hello Sue, I know this reeeally sucks. I have been all over the world with bowling and my honest response is that it does depend on the dynamic function of the center and the bowling members. If the members are competitive leagues then you will NEVER hear music playing in the background. If they have established themselves as a fun league then this will continue. Obviously as a former league president my advice is to always get the membership involved to see if there is anything they can or even want to do about it. If the members vote on it, or even to lower it then it will be a cooperative effort for all concerned. Thanks for your question. I have only bowled in a house with music a couple of times in my career. Like you I prefer to be able to deliver my shot without distraction. :-)
