target

Question
could you explain or talk about how you use a two target system/s as what and how to look at down the lane to achieve this?

Answer

True Bowler Adjustment
Greetings LD, The two targeting system relys on physical consistency, good vision, balance at the line after delivery and the ability to predetermine your line of ball travel. Using a good cadence or tempo to get to the line is crucial for physicality of a consistent delivery. Good vision involves the understanding that "if" you are not opposite eye dominant you can most likely hit your targets. Also, hopefully the bowler does not have poor vision.

Most bowlers who deliver a straighter release acquire targets at the dots(7ft), and then at the arrows(15ft)away. If you have the Brunswick Lanes with the 4 range finder markers down lane.( As described in my latest update of my True Bowler Adjustments Book) you may be able to connect a front end target of your choosing, to control where your ball begins to turn at the back end near or over these markers making them your second or third target down lane.

I truly don't stop there in my book though. Targeting covers about two to three pages of information in my book. I ask bowlers like yourself not to just look at the dots and the arrows, but to also look at the patches of boards on the lanes. Sometimes lining up these patches to each other on an angle, to a dot, to an arrow, to a spot or range finder down lane can make you deadly accurate. The only missing link, in two target system is: How do you release the ball?

If it is a straighter release, then two targeting works with moves on the approach when compared to moves of your second target down lane. However if it is a spinning release, most spinners will look down lane to a focused point. In their two target system they are faintly aware of where the ball "may be crossing" at the arrows but their mind's eye is more focused to that spot down lane. This means that even though they are still using the two target system, they are truly relying on superb hand and eye coordination to get the ball to turn towards the pins at the back end target.

In summary LD: Two target system really is pretty straight forward. Find two points on the lanes and try to cross them. Sometimes you will cross them an it will be to the outside heading towards the channel to delay the hook of the ball down lane and sometimes you will cross them to get the ball to go straight to the pocket.

It's not easy to look way down the lanes 30 to 45 feet to line up two targets. I mentioned the light and dark patches on the lane can help line you up to a dot or and arrow. In short, sometimes the best targets are the ones at the end of your swing, just ask Liz Johnson! Take care and thank you for your question.
