defending the cut or crab block

Question
My son is playing on his first team and asked. How do I defend against the cut block. Can he jump over them? I would appreciate any advice you have on this subject. he plays's at the pee wee level. He is 12 yrs old and has a nack for defensive end.
Thank's Ralph

Answer
Ralph
Yes he can jump over the cut block but best way is to ward it off by using his hands and riding the block down into the ground.  As a defensive end he is free to use his hands to push and ward off blocks.  Most blocks below the waist under the National Federation Rules (High school & Pop Warner Rules) are illegal.
