Question
i have no football experience except the occasional pick-up games. i am a sophomore and going to try out for the football team, i was wondering how i can mentally prepare myself to face the experienced players, thank you very much for your time.

Answer
Hello Steve

The four keys to a football player's confidence are skills, knowledge, conditioning and experience.  Even if you haven't played school football, you can work hard to get at least the first three keys.  I suggest you talk to the coach.  In my experience, coaches REALLY like motivated players.  Ask the coach what you would need to do to be considered for a spot on the team.  Listen carefully and be prepared to work REALLY hard to do it.  Coaches want to see if a player has heart, can follow directions and really wants it bad enough to pay the price to get on the team.

Good luck and let me know how it goes.
