Line Structure

Question
I am captain of a 30 and over hockey team.  We have had several debates.  When 12 guys show up to skate, not including the goalie, would you play 3 lines of forwards and 3 defensemen. or would you play 6 forwards (2 lines) and 6 defensemen  The third option is one that never seems to work well which is 4 defensemen, 3 sets of wingers and 2 centers rotating through the winger lines.  I know it depends on if you're a offensive team with a strong or dominant set of forwards and if your 3 defensemen have the stamina to go only 3.  Assuming that your forwards were strong and your defensemen could handle the longer shifts.  What do you think is the better configuration?

Answer
Sorry I tried to answer the other day but I dont't think it went through. I would choose the 3rd option, centers rotating through lines. Leaving 3 D is too risky, use a minimum of 2 pairs. I think with this set up it is easier to manage if you end up short-handed too.
