Rugby Advice for a New Second Row: Positioning & Scrum Tips

Question
I'm 22 and am new to rugby, I play in the uk as a
second row.
My questions are

When I'm not in an attacking ruck, where should I
stand, I want to be involved but don't want to get
caught in the 9 10 channel.

Also, I'm 6'8'' and have trouble getting low enough
behind the props in the scrum for a decent drive, any
tips or other positions I can play?

Answer
Hi Jordan,

At 6'8" you should focus on lock, unless you can run the 100meter in 10 seconds and you are built like Jona Lomu.

The trick to lock getting a good drive is your bind with your other lock, your foot position and your interaction with your prop. I will put a link to the All Black Scrum coach Mike Cron doing some good things with the scrum. If the link doesn't work just go to You Tube and search "rugby scrum lock" or rugby scrum technique.
