Double First Base (white-orange)

Question
In an ASA slow pitch softball game, the first baseman fielded the ball between first and second base, ran toward first base and touched both the white and the orange fist base bags simultaneously, with his foot, on the outfield side of the bases. The fielder made the unassisted play and crossed over into foul territory, clearing the area well before the runner reached first base - there was no chance of a collision. The opposing team called for an appeal, stating the fielder must touch only the white bag. The umpire, from behind home plate, ruled the runner safe. Your thoughts?

Answer
Hi Gerald,

My thoughts are the b-r is out.  As long as F3 touched ANY part of the white we have an out.  The fact that they also touched some of the orange doesn't matter.  The same is true for the b-r, any part of the orange not ONLY the orange.
