Baseball Interference: Glove Throwing and Runner Obstruction - Official Ruling

Question
A defensive player throws his glove at a line drive over his head. This movement causes runners on 3rd and 2nd to freeze momentarialy..causing runner from 2nd to be thrown out at home. What is the ruling? Can the fielder distract a runner like that?

Answer
The only remedy would be an obstruction call at the time of the thrown glove.  This most likely is not going to be called especially if the runners are not close to the player throwing the glove.

The only remedy for the throw glove is if the glove actually hits the ball.  The remedy is a three base award for the batter forcing all preceding runners to score.
