ASA Rules & Wild Pitching in 10U Fastpitch: A Parent's Guide
Question
Hi,
My question is in regard to 10U girl's fastpitch. Is there an ASA rule regarding a pitcher that throws hard, but is consistently wild and hits 3-4 batters each game she pitches? Is there any regulation which states whether she should be allowed to continue taking the mound?
Thanks,
Jill
Answer
Hi Jill,
This is a problem that plagues younger levels of fastpitch. Especially if it is your daughter taking one for the team. To answer you directly, no there is no rule that limits the number a batters a pitcher can hit before she must be pulled.
Hopefully your coach can turn those runners into runs. That is the best way to make a wild pitcher pay!
