ASA Emergency Rule: Re-entering a Substitute Player in 16U Fastpitch

Question
During the game the visiting team has one substitute player who enters the game in the 4th for the first batter in the lineup; later the teams catcher is injured, she bats 7th, the team wants to re-enter the lead off hitter and move the sub down to the catcher's position in the order.  The leaque director stated that this is a "emergency rule" from ASA. I have my doubts.  He stated that this is not a leaque rule, but ASA.  16 and under girls fast pitch.

Answer
Hi roger,

The LD is incorrect (to put it nicely).

The team must play shorthanded 8 with an out in the 7th spot.  They would also play 8 on defense.  That's why you save a sub.

B1 can only re-enter at B1 and sub B1 cannot bat anywhere else in the order.  B1 and sub B1 cannot be in the game at the same time.
