IS this statement True in NFHS

Question
I know the references are not correct but does the info still apply.  IF after the play the umpires determined it should have been called an IF and was not (umpire screwed up) under 10-6-c we can correct a situation where our mistake puts the runners in jeopardy.

By not verbally calling the IF we place the runners in jeopardy as they do not know if a force was on or not.  It is logical for them under those circumstances to leave the base, whereas if the IF had been called they would know there was no force in effect.

case book play 8.2 35 allows us to invoke the IF after the play is over and return the runners

It's a question of fairness after a mistake by the umpire

Answer
Sorry for the delay in this answer.  When I saw the rule book references I tabled answering the question until I had enough time to research the answer.

The short answer and the one you won't like is that the umpires didn't put the runners in jeapordy by not verbalizing the IFR call.  It is the coaches responsibility to recognize the game situation and coach accordingly.
