Catcher Positioning in Softball: Rules and Regulations

Is there a defined location for the catcher? I was watching a 16U game in which the catcher crouched on to the plate. Her glove was literally over the plate, is this acceptable. She never got hit or interferance called.

Hello Olga,

The catcher is required to remain in the catcher's box until the pitcher releases the ball.  I'll enclose a link to a website that gives all the field dimensions including a layout of the batter and catcher's box.  I hope you find this helpful.
