Softball Glove Rules: Can a Catcher Play First Base?

My daughter play 10 and under fast pitch soft ball.She is a catchers and sometimes plays first base she has two gloves but at a game she forgot her regular glove she was called to play first base and was flagged by the ref and told you cant play first with a mitt i always thought first and catcher were mitt positions.

IN ASA play...
Any glove or mitt legal for softball is legal at any defensive position. This rule has been in effect for a couple of years now.
