determining home team in playoffs

2016/7/15 17:48:33

Question
This is for mens slowpitch. We have a double elimination tournament for the playoffs with a winners and losers bracket. We've been doing higher seed is home team throughout, but someone brought up a question. If a lower seed beats a higher seed, do they take their positioning and as a result get home team? Also, the final is a best of three. Who gets home team for those games? Thanks, Dave

Answer
Hi David,

There are no ASA rules for this, we use a blind draw.

This is only my personal opinion and so it doesn't mean too much.  I would continue to give the higher seed home team.  A 6 seed is still a 6 even though it beat a 2 seed.

In ASA we flip for home team.  In the finals I would flip for the 1st game, award home in the 2nd to the visiting team in the 1st and flip for the 3rd game if necessary.
