Do we start over

Question
Larry
My question to you is I was playing in a league game with ASA rules and we completed the top of the first inning and then the light's went out as we were coming to bat the game was called off because the they couldn't get the light's back on so since we didn't get to bat do we start the game over again? Thanks

Answer

Hello Sean

ASA rules specify that any game called before five full innings (4-1/2 innings if home team is ahead. NOTE: some leagues modify this to 3-1/2 innings or by time limits), the game will be resumed at the point at which it was called. I don't find anything in the ASA rules that indicate a complete inning is required.

However if the game was agreed by both coaches to be "canceled" before becoming a regulation game the game would start over if the game was rescheduled.
