training in the offseason

2016/7/15 18:01:22

Question
Larry,
i was wondering if you had any training type things i would be able to do over the summer. i am not able to play traveling ball because our family does a lot of camping over summer, so i don't get to play until the season starts again. so what are some things i can do to train in the offseason? im a shortstop, and i also wanted to know if you know of any drills i can do to work on my fielding? i had probably 5-7 errors in 11 games this past season and i want to get it lower.
thanks for your time,
~Kelly

Answer
Hello Kelly

Looking over some of these drill could give you ideas:

The Wall Drill would work good for you.  Simply face a wall 20 feet away.  Using tennis or rubberized balls throw the ball against the wall.  Presto!  Instant grounder.   This drill is good for eye/hand coordination.

Also it doesn't hurt to do some weight training that includes strength, power, speed, and endurance. I can't help with weight training questions but you can get more information from the following website:
