When to Start Girls?

Question
Hi Tom,
I have 3 daughters and a personal passion for Volleyball.  My daughters are aged 5 and 2.  When and how do you think I should begin to introduce them to the sport?

Answer
You have how many daughters?  haha

Thank you for visiting www.allexperts.com.

Little girls should be doing a little bumping and setting and underhand serving asap.  Of course, soccer & sball are easier. But, they have to start vball sometime.  If one of those little kid balls (VolleyLite?) is available, use that.

By the time they're rising 5th graders, it's time to consider camps.  By rising 6th they should be attending camps.

Outdoor doubles by the time they're 7th grade.  Juniors during the 6th or 7th grade also.

What most parents you do with their pre-schoolers will be just cutesy stuff......like talking French to them a few minutes each day.  But as soon as you can start, the better.  It's amazing what an advantage that'll give them!

If you have a moment, please visit me at www.coachhouser.com  I think you'll like all the smiling faces.
