Volleyball injury

Question
I think I have injuryed my hand while playing volleyball at school. It is my right hand (and I am right-handed), and the joint joining the middle finger to the main section of the hand appears to be lowered, and it also appears raised about 1cm from the wrist. There is also slight swelling in the upper thumb. It hurts when I write with it, and I want to know whether it is related to the volleyball (I play once a week, and I have been playing for 6 weeks now)- if it is, I shall have to stop playing until it recovers...I have tests soon, and I want to make sure it is better by then!

Thank you in advance!

Answer
Laura,

I answered this a week ago but it seems that it didn't get to you.

I am not a doctor so my first suggestion is to go to the doctor and have your hand checked out.  I think if you hurt you hand during practice you would have known it.

Did you jam it?  Or block the ball the wrong way?  Did you dive for a ball?  If your arm hurts that much I would not practice until I saw a doctor.

Good luck,
Steve
