Fitting a Garcia Mitchell Reel to a Lews Fuji Handle: A Guide

I am trying to fit a Garcia Mitchell 300 reel into a Lew's Fuji Speed Fit trigger
handle.  The part of the reel that attaches to the rod/handle is too long.  Can I
file this part of the reel down or is there a trick to getting it to fit in the handle
without damaging the reel?

Hi Kyle,

I would think that the handle should accommodate the foot on a mItchell reel.  If you have tried everything else, then yes, you can file the foot down at both ends to make it fit.  The only danger is that it may wind up too short to fit any other reel seat.  If you plan to use it only on this rod, then you should be OK.
