Answer
Hi Robert,

Yes, Fenwick Feralite rods are fiberglass.  There were two generations of Feralite rods 1963-1971 and 1972-1988.  Your rod could be from either generation.  I do not have a dated serial number list.  The first generation rods have a slower action than the second generation, but with no comparison rod that doesn't do you much good.  Sorry.

The Feralite patent is for the ferrule or the point at which the two sections of the rod connect.  The tip over butt ferrule design has since been copied by pretty much everyone.

I assume you are asking about the stainless steel guides and tiptop.  The material used should be the same thoughout.  If the guides are stainless, then the tiptop should also be stainless.  It may also be that these are a hardened chrome or chrome plated.

In general, the Fenwick Feralite rods have a loyal following...at least here in the Rockies they sure do...and many who fish with these rods simply won't fish with any other.  The spinning rod version would be valued in the $30-$75 range depending on condition.

Thanks,  Joe
