Orvis Bamboo Fly Rod Identification & Valuation

Question
It was my dads fly rod. 7 1/2 ft. Long, 3 1/2 oZ. #6 line.  Madison  H.D.G (6) is on the base rod.. never used has case and slip.

Answer
Darrell,
I am assuming you want an estimate.
The rod - is bamboo if flat sided or graphite / fiberglass if round. And if the reel seat is not below the handle all of the following assessment has no meaning.
I could  use the Orvis database if I had a serial number , Orvis Bamboo Rod Production ~ 1940 to 2008: A Collector's Reference Copyright 2003-2008 James Gregory Reynolds
I never trust cloth socks and tubes for id, they can easily be switched.

Price Book Antique & Collectable Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997 (2nd edition 2000) add about 30% for age of book.

Homel gives the "Madison" fly rod 7 1/2' bamboo fly rod , 2 sections, one tip the value of $100, 210 and  for poor, good, excellent condition respectively# Be careful unless you have seen a number of bamboo rods# Most people tell me their rod is in mint or excellent condition, very few are right.
Orvis is still in business and you can read their history at

Luck,
Mac
