Could you identify this fish?

I have been trying to identify it for some time now and I can't find any trigger fish species that looks like it.

Well, looks like a deflated puffer fish to me. Could be that he couldn't inflate if you pulled him up over the side of the pier and he had been fairly deep when you hooked him. I'm really just guessing though. Sorry I don't have a better answer for that one. Maybe try inquiring at capnmel.com.
