Whirlaway fishing reel

My Whirlaway fishing real is not working properly. When I turn it back to lift the bail it works.  However, now when I turn it to wind it in the bail will not flip to the reel-in position.  Which mechanism is not working?

Hi Kenneth,

I am familiar with that reel but have never owned one or had one apart.  I have scrounged through the Internet looking for a manual and cant seem to find one.  

It sounds like the classic bail spring break if it were a conventional spinning reel.

The problem will be finding a replacement.  I see some on e-Bay being sold for parts.  That may be an option.
