Frogs

Question
Hi Sammy, hope you are well. I love top water fishing and use many different baits, but I really like using frogs. Do you recommend any certain frog you might like? The lake I Usually fish in is generally clear water. A lot of down trees and some grassy areas,Lilly pads, reeds. Any color preference? I fish in upstate pa. Thanks again, paul

Answer
Paul,

I hope that this message finds you well. I am a huge fan of topwater fishing as it provides an exciting alternative to normal fishing techniques. My favorite kind of topwater frog is probably the Scum frog. It floats on the surface of the water; also, it has a double hook that points upward, bracing the body of the frog to prevent weeds. You can cast the frog into heavy brush or debris and it will not get stuck! Another favorite frog of mine is the Rebel Buzz'n Frog. It splashes as it moves to draw the attention of the fish. This frog shouldn't be used around heavily weeded areas for it's hook is in the open. Try to use brighter yellows when you are in high visibility water. Use greens in moderate to low visibility waters and black as it starts to get dark. You can pop the frogs, walk them, or simply straight reel them. I hope that I have answered your question and that my suggestions bring you luck.

If fishin' easy, everyone would be doing it.

Good Luck,
Slammin' Sammy
