Repairing & Converting Fishing Rods: 1-Piece to 2-Piece

Question
I fish Canada and have several poles, bait casters as well as spin casters. Due to the difficulty of having 6'6" one piece  poles and having to transport them ( airports) in long pole cases is there a place  in our world where these poles can be redesigned into a 2 piece set thus eliminating the expense of purchasing new poles? I do not know if the process is possible and what would the affect be on the reliability of the pole if it were possible?

Answer
Hi Ronald,

Unfortunately no there is no good way to make them two piece.  The long shot is the old metal ferrules that rods had back in the 50's and 60's.  And I don't know about you, but those rods were horrible.  Having a rod builder cut the blanks and install metal ferrules would cost more than new two piece rods.

Sorry,

Marc
